Deprez and Pomuni Continue a Generations-Long Partnership in Potato Processing

A long-standing partnership between Pomuni and Deprez continues to support the evolution of Pomuni’s operations in Ranst, Belgium. 

Deprez recently visited Pomuni’s site to capture its installations and document the companies’ long-running collaboration. The partnership dates back to the early years of Deprez, making Pomuni one of its long-standing customers.

A Family Business with Deep Roots

Pomuni is a family-owned Belgian company with a history dating back to 1928, when Jos Muyshondt started trading fruit and vegetables at the Antwerp wholesale market. Over the following decades, the company progressively specialised in potatoes. Today, the fourth generation of the Muyshondt family is involved in running the business. 

The company operates from Ranst and supplies fresh potatoes as well as frozen potato products. Its activities cover different stages of the potato chain, from cultivation and sourcing through processing and packaging. 

The Ranst site has undergone significant investment and modernisation. In 2019, Pomuni completed a new potato-processing facility following an investment of several tens of millions of euros. The facility incorporated extensive automation into the production process.

Investing in Efficiency and Innovation

This focus on efficiency and innovation remains part of Pomuni’s development. In February 2026, Pomuni Frozen received the Factory of the Future recognition for the second time. According to Pomuni, the assessment recognised areas including digitalisation, advanced production techniques and sustainable value chains. 

The collaboration with Deprez forms part of this operational environment. In the testimonial filmed at the Ranst facility, Ben Muyshondt, CEO of Pomuni, discusses his experience of working with Deprez and the role of its solutions in Pomuni’s day-to-day operations. Deprez says the collaboration has contributed to a more efficient logistics process, increased productivity and improved performance throughout the plant.

A Partnership That Continues to Evolve

For both companies, the project represents a relationship that has developed over many years. As Pomuni has grown and modernised its operations, the collaboration with Deprez has continued alongside that development. 

With Pomuni approaching its centenary in 2028, its history illustrates the importance of long-term thinking within a family-owned business. The company describes its approach as one focused not only on the present, but on building a business for future generations.

The Pomuni case therefore highlights a partnership that has endured through the growth and evolution of both companies — combining long-standing cooperation with the ongoing development of modern potato-processing operations in Ranst.
