Elea recently announced the appointment of Professor Dr.-Ing Stefan Toepfl as the new Managing Director of the company.

Stefan brings over 15 years experiences in PEF Technology, (Novel) Process Technologies, Food Engineering and academic education as a Professor in Germany and California.

In 2006 Stefan received a PhD in food process engineering from Berlin Technical University. From there he moved on to commence his career at the German Institute of Food Technologies (DIL) where he has since developed processing technologies for food industry and equipment manufacturers and has been active in project and customer acquisition as Head of Business Unit Process Technologies until 2014 and afterwards as Advanced Research Manager up to the end of 2016.

Stefan won the Georg-Carl-Hahn research award-winner in 2009 and has also been a teaching professor for Food Process Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Osnabrück since 2009.

In 2015 he worked as a visiting professor at the Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of California, Davis, teaching Advanced Food Processing Techniques. Offering students a great opportunity for international exchange and hands-on training since 2011 he has also acted as the coordinator of the International Summer Lab Special Food Technologies and Food Process Design.

Since the establishment of Elea in 2012 Stefan has been an important part of the company as a consultant in science and research as well as dealing with matters in respect to patent law.
