Suspected Food Tampering in Potatoes Packed by Linkletter Farms Ltd., Prince Edward Island

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is advising consumers of a possible food tampering situation involving potatoes harvested and packed by Linkletter Farms Ltd. of Summerside, PEI.

Linkletter Farms Ltd. is voluntarily withdrawing certain products following a consumer complaint in which a metal object appears to have been inserted into a potato. Consumers should not consume the products described below. The following products have been sold in Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island.

There have been no confirmed illnesses or injuries associated with the consumption of these products. As a precaution, consumers should carefully check potatoes for foreign objects.

As tampering is a criminal offense, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police is leading the investigation into this matter. The CFIA is supporting the investigation.

More information will be shared with the public as it becomes available. The CFIA will take all necessary steps to protect the safety of the Canadian food supply.
