Potato growing regions in Western Australia
Western Australia has a bustling potato industry with production standing at nearly 100,000 ton per year. Of this volume 78 (many 2nd or 3rd generation) growers produce around 50,000t a year for the fresh market with the remaining volume split across the seed, processing and export sectors.
Fresh potatoes are grown in four distinct regions across the State; Baldivis / Gingin / Dandaragan; Myalup; Marybrook/Busselton; and Manjimup/Pemberton.
Each region is selected based upon soil type and weather conditions.
