The company, headquartered in Arvin, California, was launched in 2010 by multigenerational potato growers who saw market desire for simple, quick-cook food. Tasteful Selections® is a pioneer and leader in the bite-sized potato sector, providing nutrition, flavour diversity, and variety for everyday meals.
Tasteful Selections, LLC, is a joint venture between CSS Farms, RPE, and Plover River Farms. Today, they lead the specialty potato category by owning and operating the entire planting, growing, harvesting, and packaging process. The company was founded by the Bender family of Nebraska, who had historically kept tiny potatoes from harvests for family dinners. These bite-sized potatoes quickly became a household favourite due to their delicious flavour and rapid cooking time. Bob Bender envisioned that these potatoes may inspire dinners outside his own family, which sparked the concept of expanding the potato category.
The founding team optimised planting, growing, and harvesting procedures in collaboration with growers from across the United States and around the world. The discovery that bite-sized potatoes flourished in the Southwest prompted the shift of farming and production to California. Tasteful Selections® developed a family tradition into a large-scale reality, presenting itself as the pioneer of bite-size potatoes for modern consumers seeking convenience and quality.
