HZPC pays out 65% of its profit
Octubre 11, 2010
HZPC Holland B.V. has realised a result of 3.6 million euro in financial year 2009/2010.
Just like last year, the supervisory board decided to put at the disposal of the shareholders 65% of the profit of the company. This means a dividend of 3.00 euro per certificate of share. Last year the result was 4.8 million euro and the dividend 4.00 euro.

Financial year 2009/2010 was a difficult year for HZPC Holland B.V. The record high yield per hectare in the Netherlands, caused an extra offer of seed potatoes. There was a split in the market. In the countries oversees the demand was just like that good. The total Dutch export to North Africa and Asia is risen from 208,600 to 283,500 tons. However, within the EU the demand was limited. Unfortunately, the percentage sold as seed potatoes was lower than normally. This also had a negative effect on the margin for the company. On the other hand, the margin for HZPC on seed potatoes grown outside the Netherlands and especially outside Europe, did grow.

The consolidated turnover of HZPC Holland declined with 6.7% from 227 to 211 million euro, especially because of the lower price level of seed potatoes. The turnover in ware potatoes was almost the same as in 2008/2009, 30 million euro. The subsidiaries realised 2.2 million euro of the net profit.

For harvest 2010, the prospects are still very insecure. The circumstances of the harvest are such that it is difficult to make an estimation of the available quantities in the right quality now. Positive is that the market looks good. In nearly all the sales areas of seed potatoes, the price level of ware potatoes is good and we expect that this remains the way. For the time being HZPC expects a reasonable till good year for the company as for the growers.
