Durante la última campaña agrícola 2010 – 2011, la superficie sembrada de papa alcanzó las 303,282 hectáreas que produjeron cuatro millones de toneladas en 19 regiones, generando aproximadamente 110 mil puestos de trabajo permanentes y 32 millones de jornales al año, informó hoy el ministro de Agricultura, Luis Ginocchio.
En el marco del Día Nacional de la Papa, que se celebrará el 30 de mayo, destacó que la producción del tubérculo representa el ocho por ciento del Valor Bruto de Producción (VBP) Agrícola, índice mayor que cualquier otro cultivo alimenticio nacional.
El 90 por ciento de la producción nacional proviene de la sierra y diez por ciento de la costa.
