Freshly harvested Scottish Potatoes at Tesco

Junio 11, 2014
Summer is the perfect season for a laidback lunch in the sun and what could be a better accompaniment for a BBQ or al fresco dining than a bowl of tasty, fresh new potatoes. This summer treat yourself to the freshest and best with Freshly harvested Ayrshire and East Lothian Potatoes available from Tesco stores in Scotland.

100 years ago, Allan Stevenson, grandfather of the current Allan Stevenson, arrived from Ayrshire to start farming at Luffness Mains, in East Lothian. The farm has changed dramatically since then with the mechanisation and technical revolution of the last century, however great freshness and flavour still remains the number one priority.

These tasty, loose skinned new potatoes are harvested for Tesco from the fields of Luffness Mains, meaning they’re as fresh as you can get. The Potatoes are Maris Peer, sold as loose with a great buttery taste with just a hint of sweetness, loose skin and a waxy texture making them ideal for boiling or steaming.

Supplied by Greenvale, the UK’s leading potato supplier, these delectable freshly harvested new potatoes demonstrate the best of Scottish produce. Their limited availability means that they’re only on shelf during the height of their season so you can rest assured that whether you’re crushing them with a handful of mint, mixing with spring onions and mayo or simply topping with a knob of butter and serving with fish, the quality and freshness of your spuds will shine through.

Dani Mcann, Tesco Marketing Manager for Scotland, commented, “Tesco is committed to offering shoppers the very best in freshness and quality and works closely with our Scottish growers to ensure that the potatoes are at their very tastiest.”

Early season Scottish New Potatoes are available in Tesco from late June.
