As Kuipers Food Processing Machinery marks its 40th anniversary, the Dutch equipment specialist reflects on decades of technical refinement, market-focused innovation and a consistent commitment to efficiency and sustainability. From its roots in Woerden to its newest ventures in India, the company continues to reshape what manufacturers can expect from modern frying and processing systems.

Where engineering meets practical production

Walk through any modern snack plant and one operational factor remains constant: the central role of frying oil quality. At Kuipers, this has long been a focal point. Throughout the years, the company has optimized its fryer by listening closely to producers’ feedback and studying real factory conditions.

Kuipers has significantly reduced frying oil consumption by redesigning the way oil flows, heats, and is maintained during production. Through a combination of smaller oil volumes, multiple injection points, improved heat exchange, and continuous fine filtration, the system keeps oil fresher for longer while maintaining strict control of FFA and TPM levels. These innovations not only enhance product quality but also cut oil usage by up to 50% compared with conventional lines, delivering substantial cost savings for producers — especially in low-absorption products such as peanuts. The result is a cleaner, more efficient, and more economical frying process.

The focus on engineering excellence extends beyond the fryer: Kuipers’ closed-loop water treatment system drastically reduces water consumption by continuously cleaning and reusing process water, while the Vapour Scrubber Unit transforms fryer exhaust into a valuable source of recovered energy. By condensing moisture, filtering oil particles, and utilising ozone-based odour elimination, the system ensures cleaner emissions and returns heat to the line, achieving recovery rates of up to 90%. Together, these technologies prove that high-quality manufacturing and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.

Innovation focused on high-growth snack markets

One of the newest developments stemming from Kuipers’ recent strategy is Krispfood, a newly created brand tailored specifically for India — a market characterized by rapidly growing snack consumption and increasingly sophisticated production demands.

Developed in partnership with SV Agri, Krispfood combines Kuipers’ engineering expertise with local manufacturing strengths to deliver highly automated, energy-efficient and cost-competitive potato chip lines. The system begins with raw potato input and extends through to the final product, ensuring quality control at every stage.

For Kuipers, Krispfood is more than a subsidiary — it's a strategy. It represents the company’s commitment to delivering accessible, high-performing technology in markets where demand is high but investment budgets can be challenging.

Investing in the future

Looking ahead, Kuipers will continue investing in innovation and the talent needed to drive it. By working closely with clients and applying insights from real production environments, the company aims to help manufacturers achieve their ideal product while operating more efficiently.
