Ellips will showcase its True-AI grading technology and four potato and onion grading solutions at the Global Produce & Floral Show 2026 in Orlando, Florida, highlighting automation, labor savings, quality consistency and higher throughput.

Growers and packers looking to extract maximum value from every potato and onion harvest will be able to explore Ellips' latest grading technologies at the Global Produce & Floral Show 2026.

The company says its solutions are designed to address three major pressures facing produce operations: maintaining consistent quality, meeting volume and delivery targets, and reducing dependence on scarce labor. Ellips will demonstrate its True-AI technology alongside Elisam grading machines and the CleanFlow Pre-Sorter at booth 3523.

AI grading designed to improve quality, labor and throughput

According to Ellips, consistent quality can help growers and packers protect their reputation, retain customers and attract new business, while automation can reduce labor requirements and operating costs.

The company's True-AI technology is designed to detect internal and external defects and make grading decisions based on produce quality. Ellips says this can help ensure that more produce reaches the appropriate market or pack while reducing waste.

The technology also aims to simplify machine operation, with easier settings and faster responses intended to help operators achieve consistent grading results across changing incoming batches.

Ellips says its grading technology is already used by growers and packers worldwide. Its event announcement highlights more than 260 growers and packers operating more than 1,600 grading lanes with Ellips True-AI across multiple regions.

For potato and onion applications specifically, Ellips highlights more than 85 potato grading machines and more than 55 onion grading machines, representing more than 700 combined grading lanes. Customers cited by the company include Eagle Eye Produce, Wada Farms, Owyhee Produce, Bland Farms, Phoenix Farms and Folson Farms.

Ellips’ potato grading technology is trusted by leading growers and packers, supporting automated sorting, consistent quality and higher processing efficiency.

Four solutions for potato and onion operations

At the show, Ellips will present four solutions addressing different grading and pre-sorting requirements.

Elisam potato grading machine: The improved potato grading machine is designed for high-capacity, fully automated grading. Powered by Ellips True-AI, it detects internal and external defects while supporting consistent quality and reducing dependence on manual labor.

Elisam onion grading machine: The improved onion grading machine is designed for high-capacity automated onion grading. Ellips says its True-AI technology can identify internal and external defects while helping operators maintain consistent output quality.

Elisam CombiGrader for potatoes and onions: The new CombiGrader is designed to grade both potatoes and onions on one machine. The system can switch between the two crops, allowing operations handling both products to use a single grading solution. Ellips states that the system can deliver a return on investment within six months.

CleanFlow Pre-Sorter: The new CleanFlow Pre-Sorter is designed to remove stones, clods and severe defects before they reach storage or the main grading line. Ellips says the system can reduce manual pre-sorting labor by up to 80%.

The solutions are intended for a range of operations, from farms to large industrial facilities, whether growers require a dedicated washed-potato grading line, a dedicated onion line, a machine that can switch between potatoes and onions, or pre-sorting before storage or grading.

Addressing key challenges in potato and onion grading

Ellips is positioning the solutions around several common operational challenges.

For labor shortages, the company will demonstrate automated, hands-free sorting designed to reduce dependence on manual labor.

For quality demands, True-AI grading is intended to deliver consistent, premium-grade output by detecting relevant defects and applying grading criteria consistently.

For capacity targets, the high-throughput grading systems are designed to help operations process larger volumes and meet delivery deadlines.

For internal defects, Ellips will demonstrate its Light Transmittance technology, which is designed to identify defects that cannot be detected through conventional external inspection.

For operations switching between potatoes and onions, the Elisam CombiGrader provides a single-machine approach for handling both crops.

For stones, clods and severe defects, the CleanFlow Pre-Sorter is designed to remove unwanted material before it reaches storage or the grading line.

Customer examples highlight automation benefits

Ellips is also highlighting results reported by customers using its grading technology.

Owyhee Produce, for example, operates a high-capacity Elisam onion grader at reported rates of 36 to 42 tonnes per hour. Ellips says the operation reduced finish sorters from two per line to one, reducing labor requirements by four to five people across the operation. The company also reports that Owyhee ships more than 3 million bags annually with approximately 99.9% accuracy across 4,000 loads.

For potatoes, Ellips cites Wada Farms as an example of labor reduction and increased capacity. According to Ellips, Wada Farms reduced labor associated with manual sizing and sorting by 75%, reached its targeted throughput rate within the first 30 days and subsequently increased grading capacity by more than 20% during the first year.

Ellips says customers across North America, Europe, South America, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Australia have adopted its True-AI technology.

Ellips True-AI at the Global Produce & Floral Show

Ellips says True-AI continuously learns from real-world data gathered across seasons, varieties and growing conditions. The company also says feedback on rare defects, seasonal variations and changing market requirements is incorporated into ongoing development, supported by a team of more than 60 vision specialists.

The Global Produce & Floral Show 2026 will bring the fresh produce and floral supply chain together in Orlando, Florida. The official 2026 exhibitor prospectus lists the convention for October 15–17, with the expo running October 16–17, and says the event is expected to attract more than 20,000 attendees and 1,100-plus exhibitors from more than 70 countries.

Ellips' event announcement identifies Booth 3523 as its location and states that its team will be available to discuss grading requirements and demonstrate its solutions.

The company will use the event to show growers and packers how automated grading can address quality, labor and throughput challenges across potato and onion operations.
