Emsland Group’s Science-Based Emissions Reduction Targets Validated by SBTi

The Emsland Group’s emissions reduction targets have been officially validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), confirming the company’s commitment to measurable, science-based climate action.

The Emsland Group has reached an important sustainability milestone after the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) officially validated its science-based greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets.

The validated targets commit the company to reducing its absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50.4% by 2030, compared with a 2018 base year. Emsland Group has also committed to reducing its Scope 3 emissions by 30% by 2030. 

Looking further ahead, the company has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2045. This long-term target includes a 90% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and a 90% reduction in relevant Scope 3 emissions, compared with the 2018 base year.

Independent Validation of Climate Commitments

The SBTi validation confirms that Emsland Group’s climate targets are aligned with the latest climate science and support the global ambition of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

The Science Based Targets initiative is an internationally recognized corporate climate action organization that enables companies to establish greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets in line with climate science. Its rigorous validation process is designed to ensure that corporate climate commitments are credible, measurable, transparent and aligned with internationally recognized scientific standards and best practices.
