Fresh Solution Farms plans to open a potato processing facility in Mottville Township, just outside White Pigeon in St. Joseph County, Michigan.

The county's Economic Development Director tells Newschannel 3 that potato processing wasn't a business on her radar screen before the Fresh Solutions Farms project. But with the prospect of millions of dollars in investment and new jobs, it's an idea that has quickly taken root.

The plant is expected to process 80 million pounds of potatoes each year.

"We can pack immediately upon receiving an order and ship the same day to almost two-thirds of the population of the country, being that we're so central to the population,"said Greg Salisbury, the company's General Manager.

Location is one of the biggest reasons the company looked to St. Joseph County for it's $17.5 million, 6,700-square-foot processing facility. The new plant will be right next to the railroad tracks, close to growers, and just a short drive from the I-80/I-90 corridor.
Fresh Solution Farms hopes to have this project complete and ready for the first shipment of potatoes, next September.
