Gujarat set to reap bumper potato crop

Gujarat, once known for its huge production of banana, is expected to have a bumper potato yield this year. While the crop is expected to have poor harvest in eastern part of the country, the situation is opposite in Gujarat. Potato production is increasing over the past few years.

Gujarat Cold Storage Association president PC Chhib said this year, Gujarat could see around 20% jump in production. This year, approximately, 156.000 tonnes of potato seeds were sown in Gujarat. The market expects potato production of 1.340.000 tonnes.
