De verwerking van aardappelen tot consumptieproducten in Nederland blijft net als de voorgaande maanden onverminderd hoog. Het grote aanbod aardappelen afland (m.n. afkomstig van het zand) in combinatie met de zeer lage marktprijs van de meerkilo's zorgen ervoor dat de fritesfabrieken op volle capaciteit blijven draaien.
Insiders melden dat de koelhuizen aardig vol beginnen te lopen waardoor de verwerkers mogelijk later in het handelsseizoen het "rustiger"aan kunnen doen in de fysieke markt.
Totaal vanaf januari is er 2.539.600 ton aardappelen verwerkt to consumptieproducten, bijna 6% meer dan in 2008.
