January 25, 2011

Barry Ledger has retired from Tong Peal Engineering, the UK’s leading designer and manufacturer of agricultural handling and sorting equipment for the vegetable handling industry.

In his 30 years with Tong Peal, Barry has performed a number of roles including sales manager in the northern area and export sales manager, helping to develop the company into a market leader and develop strong relationships with customers both locally and around the world, including Saudi Arabia, Russia and Chile.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Tong Peal and it has been a privilege to work for the company over the past 30 years,” said Barry (61). “I’ve seen the company grow from employing 80 people, to now over 146. Tong Peal has been a lovely place to work and it has been a pleasure working alongside Ken, Charles and now Edward Tong.”

“I want to thank Barry for his terrific contribution over the past 30 years and his help in building a thriving business,” said Charles Tong, managing director of Tong Peal. “He has done a fantastic job and helped us grow. Barry is more than an employee, he is a friend and he will be missed at Tong Peal, but we wish him every success in his new ventures.”

Barry’s role has been awarded to recently appointed export sales manager Charlie Rich, who brings with him over 15 years of experience working with Tong machinery whilst at Scotts and Burdens.

Charlie said: “I am looking forward to building on the firm foundations established by Barry. I’ve known Tong Peal for a long-time and am delighted to have the opportunity to work for them.”
