Afgelopen week zijn in België de laatste aardappelen van oogstjaar 2011 gerooid. Door de zeer lage marktprijzen en in een aantal gevallen matige kwaliteit was de noodzaak om snel te oogsten niet groot. Rustig aan rooien en direct af land leveren was voor de laatste hectare met aardappelen het devies.
De verwachte totale aardappeloogst (incl. pootgoed) zal volgens de verschillende bronnen uitkomen op ca. 3,7 miljoen ton tegen 3,3 miljoen ton in 2010.
De opbrengst per hectare in oogstjaar 2011, gemiddeld 46,42 ton/ha, 15% hoger dan 2010, meer dan compenseerde de krimp van het areaal (- 2.5%). In voorgaande jaren pakte alleen in 2007 de gemiddelde hectareopbrengst hoger uit (46,95 ton/ha).
