De aardappeloogst van 2011 wordt duidelijk groter dan de aardappeloogst van 2010, zowel in Nederland als in omringende landen. Dat is goed voor de fritesfabrieken, maar funest voor de prijsvorming.
Leon Boer, hoofd afdeling verkoop bij Farm Frites, voorziet ”stukken betere oogst dan vorig jaar” van gemiddeld 45 tot 55 ton per hectare met uitschieters naar zelfs 65 ton.
Ook over de kwaliteit, grofte en lengte, is hij te spreken. ”Die is zelfs boven de langjarig egemiddelden.” Dat leidt tot een goed rendement in de fabriek. Ook onderwatergewicht en drogestofgehalte omschrijft hij als gemiddeld tot bovengemiddeld.
De hele Europese aardappelproductie stijgt;waar vorig jaar 41,5 miljoen ton werd geoogst in de EU-15, stevent de opbrengst dit seizoen af op meer dan 43 miljoen ton, weet Dick Zelhorst, directeur van Aviko Potato. ”Het areaal in Frankrijk is ruim 10 procent groter dan vorig jaar en ook in België, Duitsland, Polen en Oost-Europa lijken de opbrengsten goed.”
