Potato prices almost double in a year in Bangladesh

Prices of potato have nearly doubled over the last year, despite having sufficient supply in the market and adequate stock in the country.
Cold storage owners said that the recent tariff hike of power has pushed the price a bit high in the market. They said that potato prices are unlikely to go up during the upcoming month of Ramadan since the present stock could meet the local demand.

Bangladesh has witnessed a bumper production of potato in recent years. Production of potato totalled 10 million tonnes last year.
