Farmton Foods Private Limited marked a key milestone with the successful conduct of a Vastu Havan and inauguration ceremony on 5 March 2026 (Thursday), symbolizing the formal start of its food processing venture.

The ceremony was attended by the company’s promoters, team members, associates, and well-wishers, who gathered to seek blessings for prosperity and smooth operations as the company begins its journey in the food processing sector.

Farmton Foods Private Limited is a subsidiary of the Somnath Group, an agribusiness enterprise with decades of experience in potato farming, storage, and trading in Gujarat. The group manages more than 8,200 acres of potato cultivation, works with over 8,000 farmers, and operates cold storage infrastructure with a capacity of about 80,000 metric tonnes.

The venture is closely linked to Farmton Foods’ broader initiative to establish a greenfield frozen potato processing facility in Mehsana, Gujarat. The project involves an investment of around Rs. 580 crore (USD 69.5 Million) and is designed to manufacture value-added potato products such as French fries, coated fries, and hash browns.

The upcoming facility is expected to have a production capacity of approximately 6.5 tons per hour of French fries and coated fries and 2.5 tons per hour of hash browns and other specialty potato products. A significant portion of the production—around 80%—is intended for export markets, with the remaining output serving domestic demand.

The project will also be supported by a large contract farming network, with around 5,500 farmers expected to participate directly in supplying potatoes for processing.

With the inauguration ceremony completed, Farmton Foods Private Limited now moves forward with its plans to develop a modern frozen potato processing operation and strengthen India’s position in the global market for value-added potato products.
