Gumz Farms

Potatoes
Company Description

Gumz Farms is a family-owned farmer, packer, and shipper of fresh potatoes and other vegetables headquartered in Endeavour, Wisconsin, USA. The farm grows and packs red and yellow potatoes, onions, carrots and mint, as well as corn and soybeans. Its potato activities include cultivation, harvesting, post-harvest processing, packing, and distribution to wholesale and retail markets, making potatoes a key component of its fresh produce business. The firm operates in Wisconsin's muck-soil farming region, utilising agricultural and post-harvest technology for crop cultivation and produce handling.

The Gumz family's farming heritage stretches back to 1892, when the family's great-grandfather immigrated from Germany and founded a farm in Indiana. In 1948, Richard H. Gumz extended the family's agricultural activities into South Central Wisconsin, where the rich muck soils were ideal for vegetable growing. The Endeavour, Wisconsin firm was ultimately handed up to brothers Richard A. and Roderick Gumz. In 1998, the brothers started packaging and selling food in the wholesale and retail marketplaces. The operation has subsequently grown into a multi-acre vegetable and produce farm with specialised packaging facilities, all while maintaining a generational family company.
