Kettle Brand is building on its long-standing natural promise and commitment to raising the standards for the potato chip category by adding Non-GMO Project verification to 16 of its premium kettle-cooked potato chip flavors.
It is the first and only potato chip brand to earn verification, continuing its commitment to use only all natural ingredients, non-GMO oil and potatoes, and no trans fats, MSG or preservatives.
The first flavors to feature the Non-GMO Project verification prominently on front-of packaging will appear on store shelves by January 2013. The Non-GMO verified flavors include many of Kettle Brand’s best-sellers, including Sea Salt &Vinegar, Spicy Thai, Sea Salt, Jalapeño and Salt &Fresh Ground Pepper.
“For over 30 years, Kettle Brand has been focused upon providing great taste, naturally, and for our consumers this means investing in Non-GMO verification and labeling,” said Marc McCullagh, brand manager for Kettle Brand.
“Kettle Brand has been committed since day one to using all natural ingredients you can pronounce, recognize and trust. Investing in Non-GMO labeling is just another way to ensure ingredients with the highest integrity.”
The company has been working with the Non-GMO Project since 2009 to verify ingredients and reassure consumers of its commitment to using only ingredients with integrity. Verification of more than half of its Kettle Brand potato chips flavors is a strong start, and the company continues to work diligently on Non-GMO ingredient sourcing so that all of its products can ultimately be verified.
