Potato Varieties

Hermes is the potato variety with yellow skin, oval, low tuber number and high dormancy. It has high dry matter and good fry colour. It is also suitable for crisp quality production, either fresh or from storage.

Lady Rosetta is a medium-early red-skinned potato variety with round tubers, light yellow flesh, and high dry matter content. It is widely grown for crisping and potato chip production due to its low reducing sugars and uniform tuber size.

Ikarus is a medium-late maturing potato variety known for its long-oval, yellow-skinned tubers with light yellow flesh. It has a high dry matter content, making it suitable for French fries and chips. The variety is high yielding, produces large, uniform tubers, and is well adapted to different soils without requiring irrigation.

Lady Alicia is a premium crisping variety, with medium dry matter content and very low, stable sugars making it well suited to crisp production. It produces high yields of short oval tubers, with yellow skins and flesh and shallow eyes.

Lady Amarilla’s unique storage qualities and early ripening make it suitable for both the crisping industry as for French fry production. This potato variety has a low level of reduced sugars and a stable underwater weight.

This tasty Russet Skin variety with medium maturity is the first russet-skinned variety from HZPC.

The Santana potato has a light-yellow skin colour and crème colour of flesh. It is a medium early ripening variety with High Yield.

Kufri Lavkar is an early maturing variety (matures in 70 days in plateau and 100 days in the plains) with round white and light creamy firm flesh tubers.

Avamond is a potato variety developed for use in the production of flakes and granules (i.e. dried potato products). It offers a good balance of yield and processing quality, especially in systems where nitrogen input and cost efficiency are important.

Lady Rosetta (LR) is the potato variety with red skin, round, uniform tuber with relatively shallow for crisp quality production, either fresh or from storage. This variety is majorly used in the potato chips manufacturing around the world.

Taurus is an early maincrop variety, suitable for crisping. In trials it demonstrated resistance to PCN Ro1, skin spot, black dot, dry rot (F. coeruleum), silver scurf and powdery scab.

Allure is a yellow-skinned, white-fleshed, medium-sized, waxy potato variety. It is mainly used for boiling and French fries due to its firm texture and good cooking quality. Plants are erect with white flowers but do not set berries.

Agria is a variety suitable for fresh table consumption, french fries/chips and it also crisps well. The cooking type is floury, with excellent fry qualities. Agria has big, oval long tubers, yellow skin, and deep yellow flesh colour.

Verdi is a medium early crisps variety. It also can be used for the production of starch and dehydrated potatoes. The quality of the crisps is excellent even after long term storage. Resistant against PCN Ro1, 4 and potato wart disease 1, late blight and blackleg.

The Belana potato is a high-quality, early to medium-maturing table potato variety, known for its smooth, light yellow skin, pale yellow flesh, and firm, waxy texture. It is ideal for boiling, steaming, and making potato salads due to its low starch content, which helps it retain its shape during cooking.

Lady Jane is a highly resistant to stress and easy to cultivate, making it an ideal choice for French fry producers. The special feature of Lady Jane is its high dry matter content and excellent color after cooking throughout the entire storage period.

Aromata is versatile, resistant to AM and wart disease, and does not germinate quickly in storage. The Aromata is, therefore, suitable for the international table market, the peeled market, and seed potato cultivation.

The Kiebitz is an early-maturing chip potato known for its exceptionally stable long-term cold storage while maintaining top-quality processing characteristics.
