Potato Varieties

The Gerona potato is a medium-late, high-yielding baby potato variety with round-oval, yellow-skinned and yellow-fleshed tubers, producing 20–40 per plant. It is valued for fresh market and peeling, has excellent washability, strong resistance to common scab, wart disease, and PCN, but is somewhat susceptible to foliage and tuber blight.

Avamond is a potato variety developed for use in the production of flakes and granules (i.e. dried potato products). It offers a good balance of yield and processing quality, especially in systems where nitrogen input and cost efficiency are important.

The Glorietta potato is a very early to early maturing variety developed for the premium fresh market. It is a firm-cooking type with excellent flavour and no discoloration after cooking, making it especially suitable for salads and fresh table use.

Lady Amarilla’s unique storage qualities and early ripening make it suitable for both the crisping industry as for French fry production. This potato variety has a low level of reduced sugars and a stable underwater weight.

Ikarus is a medium-late maturing potato variety known for its long-oval, yellow-skinned tubers with light yellow flesh. It has a high dry matter content, making it suitable for French fries and chips. The variety is high yielding, produces large, uniform tubers, and is well adapted to different soils without requiring irrigation.

The Belana potato is a high-quality, early to medium-maturing table potato variety, known for its smooth, light yellow skin, pale yellow flesh, and firm, waxy texture. It is ideal for boiling, steaming, and making potato salads due to its low starch content, which helps it retain its shape during cooking.

Sassy is a maincrop potato variety with oval, white-skinned tubers and attractive red-violet flowers. It is noted for its good resistance to powdery scab, blackleg, and skin spot, along with strong resistance to PCN Ro1 and partial resistance to Pa 2/3, 1.

Agria is a variety suitable for fresh table consumption, french fries/chips and it also crisps well. The cooking type is floury, with excellent fry qualities. Agria has big, oval long tubers, yellow skin, and deep yellow flesh colour.

Frozen French fries are the most popular processed potato product throughout the world. India lacks a suitable potato variety for French fry production.

Gala has bright yellow skin and medium yellow flesh. It also has a very long period of rest and it is commonly grown for fresh market.

Middle maturing export variety with a good crisping quality. It is a high-yielding variety, strong against scab, heath, and drought.

Beo is a specialist crisping variety, with high dry matters and low reducing sugars. It has early crop maturity and is suitable to quality crisp production either fresh or from long term storage. They are uniform, round tubers that produce a golden crisp when fried.

Lady Rosetta is a medium-early red-skinned potato variety with round tubers, light yellow flesh, and high dry matter content. It is widely grown for crisping and potato chip production due to its low reducing sugars and uniform tuber size.

Lady Rosetta (LR) is the potato variety with red skin, round, uniform tuber with relatively shallow for crisp quality production, either fresh or from storage. This variety is majorly used in the potato chips manufacturing around the world.

Vermont is a very early-maturing starch potato variety developed in the Netherlands for high early starch yields and efficient processing. It produces large, round, light yellow tubers with firm texture and a starch content of about 20%. The variety shows rapid emergence, early tuber formation, and strong foliage cover, making it ideal for early harvesting.

Allure is a yellow-skinned, white-fleshed, medium-sized, waxy potato variety. It is mainly used for boiling and French fries due to its firm texture and good cooking quality. Plants are erect with white flowers but do not set berries.

Fontane is an early maincrop high-yielding processing variety for the production of French fries and flakes. The variety’s great success is due to its reliably high yield in cultivation – for both consumer and seed potato growers – and its excellent returns in the fries sector.

Linus is a medium-early potato variety for processing into French fries and combines an extremely high yield potential with very good processing quality.
