Julio 28, 2021
Lamb Weston / Meijer (LW/M) announced plans today to build a new french fry plant, expanding its existing production facility in Kruiningen, the Netherlands. The approximately EUR 200 million investment will increase the capacity of the site by 180,000 MT per year.

The new plant is designed to process potatoes with a minimum amount of water and energy, fitting Lamb Weston / Meijer’s 2030 Sustainability Agenda. It is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2023.

The new state-of-the-art production facility enables Lamb Weston / Meijer to meet the global growing demand for frozen potato products. The new plant will be built in addition to the three existing production lines at the location in Kruiningen and will be the most automated plant in the LW/M network.

Kruiningen is a strong location for the supply, processing, and distribution of frozen potato products. With this expansion, Lamb Weston / Meijer will create more than 50 new jobs for the company.

Marc Schroeder, CEO Lamb Weston / Meijer:

"This new plant at our Kruiningen site does not only reflect our ambition to meet the growing demand of high-quality potato products in a sustainable way, it also shows our commitment to our customers and growers building upon the advantages of this region."

"The state-of-the-art facility will use less water and less energy, and allows us to process with fewer emissions, which is critical to our sustainability strategy. This investment strengthens Lamb Weston / Meijer’s global position in the frozen potato products market, enabling our growth ambition, new product innovation and improved service to customers."
