McDonald's same-store sales up in August

Fast-food giant McDonald's Corp. said Tuesday its global same-store sales rose 8.1 percent in August.

The chain said its U.S. same-store sales grew 7.4 percent during the month due to the company's breakfast menu, beverages and new food offerings.

The company said its total systemwide sales rose 12.3 percent for August.
