Ondanks de lichte daling van de Nederlandse aardappeloogst 2009 ten opzichte van 2008 zijn de prijzen van consumptieaardappelen dramatisch laag. De oorzaak is veel te veel aardappelen in Noordwest Europa. Dat stelt bestuurslid Keimpe van der Heide van de Nederlandse Akkerbouw Vakbond.
Uit marktanalyse van de NAV blijkt dat de aardappeloogst in Noordwest Europa na aftrek van extra ’uitval’ dit jaar door blauw en beschadigingen circa 24,5 miljoen ton groot is. Dit betekent dat er in 2009 minstens zo veel consumptieaardappelen beschikbaar zijn als in 2008. Zo werden in België, Frankrijk en Engeland meer aardappelen geoogst dan in 2008.
Uit de NAV-analyse van EU-4 (Nederland, België, Frankrijk en Duitsland) blijkt dat er ook op het vasteland netto minstens evenveel aardappelen beschikbaar zijn als vorig jaar. ‘Hooggespannen verwachtingen van de aardappelprijs dit seizoen kunnen er dus niet zijn.
Uit het marktanalysemodel dat de NAV hanteert met ervaringscijfers over de afgelopen 15 jaar blijkt dat bij een aardappeloogst van 20-21 miljoen in EU-5 telers kunnen rekenen op een faire prijs van 13 tot 15 eurocent’, verduidelijkt Van der Heide.
