Desicant application trials to monitor spray deposition in different parts of the potato crop canopy have demonstrated that the angled Syngenta Potato Nozzle gives better all-round coverage of leaves and stems at all heights of the leaf canopy, compared to conventional flat fans or the angled Amistar Nozzle, says Syngenta.
The Amistar Nozzle is, however, a good alternative in more windy conditions, says Syngenta spray application specialist Tom Robinson.
“Effective blight control and potato crop desiccation requires good coverage of leaf and stems throughout the depth of the crop canopy. Conventional flat fan nozzles tend to only put spray coverage on the top leaves and front of the stems,” says Mr Robinson.
