June 16, 2011

Potandon Produce has announced the winner of its Idaho Potato Lovers Month Display Contest romantic getaway for two to Jackson Hole, Wyoming: Dawn Beckby with Henderson’s IGA in Valentine, Nebraska.

The Jackson Hole getaway was offered as an added bonus to Potandon’s prize-matching program for Idaho Potato Commission’s Potato Lover’s Month Display Contest winners who used Green Giant® Fresh Idaho® Potatoes or Sunspiced® fresh Idaho® Potatoes in their displays.

To qualify for the trip, Beckby not only had to build her display using Green Giant® Fresh or Sunspiced® Fresh Idaho Potatoes, but she also had to incorporate a Romantic/Valentine theme and Green Giant® Fresh Klondike Rose® Potatoes. "I want to thank Potandon Produce for this excellent prize to Jackson Hole, WY,” commented Beckby. “I'm thrilled about receiving this prize for using the Klondike products for Potato Lover's month. It was fun being creative incorporating the Klondike product in my store - Henderson's IGA. My husband and I look forward to this special and exciting getaway."

Of the 115 contest entrants who won cash prizes from the Idaho Potato Commission, 45 (including Beckby) also won matching cash prizes from Potandon. Among the Potandon winners, three participants placed in the top three for their respective categories:

  • Fred Sweany, Buehler’s Fresh Foods in Wooster, OH—1st place winner, 10+ cash registers
  • Leo DeLeon, Publix Foods in Fort Pierce, FL—2nd place winner, 10+ cash registers
  • Bryan Bennington, Sirna’s Market &Deli in Aurora, OH—3rd place winner, 1-5 cash registers

“By offering matching cash prizes and the chance at a romantic getaway, we gave our retail customers an added incentive to participate in the display contest,” said Dick Thomas, Vice President of Sales for Potandon. “The result was an impressive number of creative, eye-catching displays that drove incremental sales and benefited all involved.”
