El Gobierno venezolano prometió este lunes a sus agricultores que prohibirá la importación de papa ecuatoriana para proteger su producción nacional. Esto, porque productores de ese país señalaron que la papa ecuatoriana se vende por debajo del precio de la venezolana y que muchas entrarían por contrabando.
Aunque Ecuador no ha respondido oficialmente, el Centro Agrícola de Carchi, provincia donde se produce la papa de exportación, señaló que la prohibición no tiene justificación y que la exportación formal de papa a Venezuela se viene realizando desde hace dos años. Venezuela es el único importador de papa ecuatoriana y compra más de 6,5 millones de dólares al año.
