Rescue deal saves potato supplier Holme Farm Produce
July 31, 2014
A £9m-turnover pre-packaged potato supplier which works with supermarkets, wholesalers and caterers has fallen into administration after failing to recover from a disastrous harvest in 2012.

But administrators at O'Hara & Co have managed to tie up a pre-pack deal for Holme Farm Produce safeguarding jobs and the future of the business.

Peter O'Hara and Simon Weir, joint administrators at O'Hara & Co, were appointed to the Rotherham-headquartered business on 21 July 2014.

Holme Farm Produce is a family-run business which has been trading since 1983 and washes, grades and packs potatoes into approximately 50 different product specifications.

However, the company was unable to recover from the washout summer of 2012 which affected potato growing conditions and its supply chain. The UK potato harvest slumped to its lowest level for more than 30 years in 2012 after the country experienced some of the wettest weather in the past 100 years.
