In the potato processing industry, each year seems to have a trend - meaning there is a lot of attention on a particular machine or process. This year seems to be “the year of the steam peeler”.

Since the beginning of the year there has been a huge amount of interest in steam peeling, Kiremko has received orders for eleven new steam peelers or upgrades to existing peelers. Interest has been global with orders coming in from Japan, USA, Holland, Belgium, Germany and Turkey.

Kiremko is not resting on its laurels so a continuous development programme will mean that future generations of our peelers will incorporate more innovations, as technology and materials move forward so will the design of the peeler itself keeping the Kiremko steam peeler ahead of the game.

The STRATA® steam peeler will peel potatoes by using steam. The machine can be accurately geared to the amount of potato infeed.

The double walled vessel, with perforated inner wall, will ensure that the steam comes into contact with the whole surface of the potato, evenly. The rotating vessel is directly controlled and condensation is discharged separately.

The dry brush machine will remove the peel after the steam peeling process. Rotating brushes will make sure the peeled potato remains smooth, while the peel remains are removed.

Kiremko's technology will ensure a vibration free, wear-proof and no-fault operation, also thanks to the proven gear-drive system.

Cleaning is easy and maintenance intervals are rare.

PeelGuard®

Kiremko PeelGuard®

The PeelGuard® is an optical measuring instrument to detect residual peels and green or black spots.

After the steam peeler and the dry brush machine (and, if applicable, a subsequent washer) this machine will ensure an optimum monitoring of the peeling process. Being adjustable to deviations or thickness of the peel, the PeelGuard® will raise the net product yield.

The PeelGuard® can also be used in combination with an abrasive peeler to obtain any desired peeling result.
