Potato prices remain a key issue in the industry

The very high harvest yields and drop in fresh potato consumption will, EUROPLANT Pflanzenzucht GmbH believes, be one of the dominant themes at this year’s Fruit Logistica.

“The harvest yields in the current season have been very high, and as a result potatoes are available at very low prices as well as in excellent quality,” explains Managing Director Jörg Renatus. Current potato prices are the lowest for ten years. “However, we notice that the consumption of fresh potatoes continues to drop. At the same time, though, we are also noticing an increase in the demand for processed potatoes.”

Visit EUROPLANT at FruitLogistica in Hall 20 at Stand A-15

At FruitLogistica, EUROPLANT will be showcasing itself with a completely revamped stand from the 4 to the 6 February. You can find the seed potato grower and seller at the international trade fair in Hall 20 at Stand A-15.

The company will use the international trade fair to gauge industry sentiment against the background of the record harvest in 2014/15 as well as for public relations. Renatus: “We are going to widen and expand our network in Berlin. With this in mind, we are again anticipating worthwhile growth this year.“

First-class seeds for a high-yield harvest

EUROPLANT’s product range includes seeds from conventional and organic propagation – in both cases the highest quality standards apply. The benefit for farmers is that they can reliably take the first step towards a successful harvest with EUROPLANT varieties, as high-yield and healthy seeds form the basis for this success.

The high quality is guaranteed by the fact that the varieties are produced one hundred per cent in in-vitro culture. As the first two generation of newly cultivated seeds are only propagated in the fields of its sister company Böhm Nordkartoffel-Agrarproduktion (BNA), consistent first-class quality is guaranteed.

However, for EUROPLANT quality does not end with the varieties, but also involves giving first-class expert advice. With this service, the Lüneburg company provides valuable assistance to farmers.
