The Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) recently updated its website to make it easier than ever for consumers to spend quality time online with Idaho® potatoes. Two of the most exciting changes include an improved experience on mobile devices and a new contemporary design.

Frank Muir, President and CEO, IPC:

“The new website promises to be a more powerful resource for visitors. It still contains the same useful information, but it’s much easier to navigate, it allows folks to share their favorite recipes across several social media channels and it has a more contemporary look.”

“We wanted the site to reflect the spirit of the Idaho® potato brand and reinforce to consumers how important it is to look for the ‘Grown in Idaho® ’ seal when purchasing potatoes.”
From a visual standpoint, the most remarkable change is the homepage that now includes eye-popping and delicious full-screen graphics.

The upgraded design also allows visitors to better navigate the site with their mobile devices. Visitors to the new site can access important information anytime, anywhere and they can better share recipes across their favorite social media channels such as Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram. Improving mobile access to the IPC’s website is increasingly important as more American adults own smart phones of some kind. According to a recent survey by the Pew Research Institute, 64% of American adults have one - up from 35% in 2011.

Other updates include:

  • Improved compatibility with search engines that helps consumers find what they’re looking for faster and seamlessly
  • The use of data from Google Analytics helped identify the site’s most popular sections which are now more prominent and easier to find
  • A more photo-centric layout that features full-screen graphics and a pop-up feature that suggests recipes visitors might like based on their current search
Another key upgrade to the website is a new Pinterest-inspired design for the recipe database that has remained a popular draw for consumers since the IPC launched www.idahopotato.com in 1997.

The interactive recipe database features more than 1,000 ways to prepare America’s favorite vegetable and offers consumers a variety of tools to search for recipes based on ingredients, preparation, occasion and seasonality. The recipe database also features heart-healthy and gluten-free categories. Since its launch, more than half of all visitors to the IPC’s website have spent time perusing potato recipes.

The IPC website is constantly updated with news, recipes, contests, games, as well as tips, tricks, and other useful information on cooking, storing, and preparing Idaho® potatoes.
