Potato Planting in Prince Edward Island pushed back two weeks

Potato planting season in Prince Edward Island, Canada has been pushed back by about two weeks due to the record-setting snowfall this winter and spring.

Many fields are still too wet with lingering snow, preventing farmers from planting.

The late start could mean smaller and fewer potatoes at the end of the season, says Jason Webster, co-owner of MWM Farms in Kinkora

"A late start to the season can cause a bit of a yield depression on some crops, especially some varieties that need longer to bulk up," said Webster.
