Sri Lanka raises tax on imported potatoes and big onions

Sri Lanka's Ministry of Finance announced April 25, 2015 that the import taxes on big onions and potatoes have been increased with immediate effect. 

The import taxes on potatoes and big onion have been increased by Rs 15 and Rs. 20 respectively. 

Accordingly, the import tax on potatoes has been increased from Rs. 40 to Rs. 55 per kilogram while the tax on big onions has been increased from Rs. 10 to Rs. 30 per kilo.
