Orion to use fresh domestic potatoes for Pocachip and Swingchip production

Orion announced on June 16 that it will produce its flagship fresh potato chips, Pocachip and Swingchip, using freshly harvested domestic potatoes this year.
Fresh potatoes sourced from key growing regions
From June to October, Pocachip and Swingchip made with fresh potatoes will use potatoes harvested from regions known for their specialty potatoes, including Boseong in South Jeolla Province, Dangjin and Yesan in South Chungcheong Province, and Yanggu in Gangwon Province.
This year, Orion has signed contracts with around 300 potato farms across 24 regions nationwide and plans to use approximately 15,000 tons of potatoes for the production of Pocachip and Swingchip. Harvested potatoes are immediately transported to the Cheongju factory and storage facilities for use in product manufacturing.
Expansion plans and global sales growth
Pocachip alone generates annual sales of KRW 100 billion (USD 73 million) in the domestic market. Orion plans to increase production capacity by up to 50% by adding an additional Pocachip production line at the Cheongju factory in the second half of the year.
Pocachip and Swingchip also compete with global companies in overseas markets such as China and Vietnam. Last year, the two brands achieved combined global sales of KRW 400 billion (USD 291 million).
