Phoenix Farms Ltd. is a family-owned agricultural farm in Southern Alberta, Canada, that produces and supplies fresh market potatoes, seed potatoes, pedigreed seed, canola, triticale, peas, and Haskap berries. In the potato industry, the farm grows table potatoes in yellow, red, and white types for the Alberta market, as well as seed potatoes and certified pedigreed seed for producers. Its fresh market potato production and packaging are also certified under the CanadaGAP program.
The farm dates back to the late 1800s and is currently maintained by John Mans and his sons, Rick and Joel, who constitute the fifth generation of the family farming enterprise. The family's agricultural heritage began in the Netherlands, where the original farm buildings were destroyed during World War II. In 1982, John and his father came to Canada and resumed potato growing in Southern Alberta. The enterprise has subsequently expanded into a mixed farm that produces fresh potatoes, seed, and other agricultural commodities. Rick returned to the family farm in 2011, after working in construction, and Joel joined the farm.
