McDonald's Japan Says Outdated Salads Sold at Four Restaurants

McDonald's Holdings Co. Japan Ltd., a unit of the world's biggest restaurant operator, said four franchise restaurants sold outdated salads and used expired ingredients, in a filing yesterday to the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The disclosures by McDonald's Japan are the latest in a series of food scandals in Japan as companies have trouble increasing prices and the rising cost of materials squeezes profit margins.
