Ondanks dat BASF de eerste teelttoelating heeft gekregen voor de genaardappel Amflora. Dat zegt onderzoekscoördinator Anton Haverkort van het WUR-instituut Plant Research International.
BASF heeft het nieuwe gen in Amflora ingebracht met een antibioticamerker. Haverkort: "Avebe heeft een moderne, merkervrije techniek gebruikt. Ik verwacht daarom minder beperkingen voor Modena."
De Europese Commissie besluit binnenkort welke technieken als genetische modificatie worden gezien en dus aan strenge regels worden gebonden. Het PRI ontwikkelt technieken om aardappelen met soorteigen genen cisgenese bestand te maken tegen phytophthora. Haverkort: "Het is onzeker welke keuzes de Europese Commissie gaat maken."
