KMC Amba is a Danish cooperative that produces, and distributes potato-based products to the worldwide food market. It offers native potato starch, modified potato starch, potato flakes, potato granules, potato protein, and potato fibre. Food manufacturers use these ingredients to increase texture, binding, thickening, stability, and processing performance in cheese, confectionery, bread items, sauces, dressings, noodles, pasta, and snacks. KMC also creates application-specific ingredient solutions for plant-based meals and food reformulations.
KMC was founded in 1933 as Kartoffelmelcentralen with the purpose of marketing potato starch produced by seven Danish potato starch companies. Since then, the company has expanded its business beyond potato starch sales to include a larger spectrum of potato-derived components for industrial foods. KMC is owned by Danish starch-potato farmers through a cooperative framework, and it obtains potatoes from Danish producers. The firm is headquartered in Brande, Denmark, and sells potato-based products to over 90 countries, as well as serving food producers worldwide.
