The former Penobscot McCrum LLC facility in Belfast, Maine, was destroyed by fire on March 24, 2022, after a blaze broke out around 3:30 a.m. at the 28 Pierce Street plant. The incident prompted evacuations and shelter-in-place orders for nearby residents and resulted in a total loss of the facility, marking the end of operations at the long-standing site.
