The World Potato Congress (WPC) has extended the early bird registration deadline for the 13th World Potato Congress in Kenya until 6 July 2026, following strong interest from participants worldwide.

The congress will mark the first time the event is hosted in East Africa, bringing together the global potato community in Naivasha, Kenya. Organizers encourage delegates to register before the new deadline to secure discounted rates and take part in discussions focused on the future of the potato sector in Africa and globally.

Early bird registration extended

The extended registration period gives prospective delegates additional time to secure the lowest available rates for the congress. Participants will have opportunities to connect with international delegates, exchange knowledge with growers, researchers, policymakers and agribusiness leaders, and participate in technical tours and partner activities showcasing Kenya's potato industry.

Post-congress technical tours highlight Kenya's potato sector

Delegates can also extend their visit by joining post-congress technical tours scheduled for 29–30 October 2026. One of the featured visits includes the annual Farmer Field Day hosted by Freshcrop, recognized as Kenya's largest potato field day event.

The event will feature certified demonstration plots involving multiple agricultural input companies, climate-smart agriculture training, and mechanization demonstrations covering land preparation, planting, harvesting and sorting. More than 1,000 farmers supported through the WPC 2026 bursary programme are expected to attend alongside potato value chain stakeholders from across East Africa.

Visitors will be able to explore demonstration plots, meet companies serving the agricultural sector, and experience the full Farmer Field Day programme focused on knowledge sharing, innovation, collaboration, productivity and sustainable potato production. Organizers note that places on the technical tours are limited and should be reserved during congress registration.

Sponsorship and exhibition opportunities
