De Nederlandse overheid wil inzetten op bestrijding van Salmonella, Campylobacter, acrylamide en mycotoxinen. Dat staat in de Voedingsnota die de ministers Klink van VWS en Verburg van LNV vrijdag hebben aangeboden.
In de Voedingsnota staat dat Nederland wat de chemische en microbiologische voedselveiligheid een hoog niveau heeft. Er valt in het algemeen weinig extra gezondheidswinst meer te behalen. Daarom zet de overheid in op specifieke terreinen waar nog wel gezondheidswinst te verwachten is.
Op het chemische vlak is dit vooral de reductie van het mogelijk kankerverwekkende acrylamide en van door schimmels aangemaakte mycotoxinen.
