McCain Foods Releases its First Global Corporate Social Responsibility Report
McCain Foods has released its first global corporate social responsibility (CSR) report. This benchmark report, following the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative, outlines for the first time the company’s progress and commitment to continued advancement in the areas of environmental responsibility, Better For You product innovation, creating a positive workplace culture for our people and participating in the communities in which we operate.

“Corporate Social Responsibility was not common language when Harrison and Wallace McCain first ventured out, but they operated with the philosophy that good ethics is good business and with the highest regard for people, cultural differences and for building mutually beneficial relationships,” says Dale Morrison, president &CEO of McCain Foods. “Even then our founders knew that making decisions with a view to social, economic and cultural challenges was the key to sustained success.”

In 2005 CSR was formally embedded in the company’s strategic business model. McCain Foods’ pillars of responsibility – Respecting our Environment, Inspiring Wellness and Positively Impacting our People – are driven by the company’s mission to make good, nutritious food on the principles of sustainability and food safety and support our employees, customers and consumers in their aspiration for a Better Life

This first report covers McCain Foods’ progress as of the end of Fiscal 2009 (June 30, 2009).
