Gold Dust Potato Processors, Inc. Host 10th Annual Open House Field Day

August 24, 2010
Gold Dust Potato Processors and Walker Brothers welcomed customers, vendors and guests to their 10th Annual Open House Field Day.  Guests traveled from as far away as Texas, Wisconsin and South Dakota to the Klamath Basin to tour chipping potato fields and the potato processing plant in Malin operated by Gold Dust.

The Open House Field Day started with breakfast at Pappy Ganders in Merrill, Oregon and a presentation about the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement (KBRA) by Greg Addington.  Afterwards, guests visited several chipping potato fields along the Oregon-California border farmed by Walker Brothers.  Later, the visitors were given a tour of the packing shed where they examined samples of the numerous varieties of chipping potatoes as well as the facilities.

Following the shed and field tours, Gold Dust  treated their guests to a golf scramble and dinner at the Running Y Resort located outside of Klamath Falls.

“We couldn’t have picked a more beautiful day for golf and to see the fields“, said Bill Walker, CEO of Gold Dust. “And we feel honored our friends from Frito-Lay could join us along with everyone else who traveled to the Basin to see what we’ve been building for nearly 30 years.”

Guests included representatives from Frito-Lay, Rabo Bank, Choice Financial and PD Sproule Farms as well as local business such as Basin Fertilizer, Rajnus Potatoes and Heaton Farms.  The Gold Dust Open House Field Day is held every year in the last weeks of August.
