April 04, 2023
SNAC International congratulated the winners of SNAXPO23’s Flavor of the Year Awards: Elite Spice for their "savory" DC Signature Mambo Sauce, and Chesapeake Spice for their "sweet" French Toast flavor.

SNAXPO23, held in Orlando, FL, brought together leading suppliers, producers, and emerging tastemakers from across the snack supply chain. The event featured the latest in ingredients, equipment, packaging, technology, sanitation solutions, and more.

SNAXPO 2023 highlighted innovation in snacking, and attendees had the opportunity to savor a full range of on-trend and emerging new flavors at SNAXPO’s Flavor Showdown, sponsored by SNAC International and Snack Food & Wholesale Bakery.

Attendees sampled submissions from ten leading flavor and seasoning suppliers and voted on their favorite sweet and savory flavors. The Flavor of the Year Awards were announced at the SNAXPO Closing Party on Tuesday, March 21.

The top three for the Sweet Flavor of the Year included:

  • WINNER: Chesapeake Spice for its French Toast flavor highlighting the nostalgic sweet maple syrup flavors of the favorite breakfast cereal.
  • Elite Spice took second place with its entry, Gooey Butter Cake with Chocolate Drizzle.
  • Revela Foods placed third with its Strawberry Cheesecake Frosted Chow.

The top three for the Savory Flavor category included:

  • WINNER: Elite Spice for its DC Signature Mambo Sauce. This version of one of Washington D.C.’s favorite local condiments, features rich and tangy flavors that lend to the history and food culture of the nation’s capital.
  • Griffith Foods earned second place with its Aquachile Cashews flavor.
  • Wixon took third place with its Pickled Sweet Onion flavor.
