Preparations for one of the key highlights of World Potato Congress (WPC) 2026 are gaining momentum as the Farmers Field Day takes shape at FreshCrop in Mau Narok ahead of the Congress in Kenya this October. 

The WPC 2026 Farmers Field Day is scheduled for Thursday, 29 October 2026, bringing together potato farmers, researchers, seed companies, technology providers, input suppliers and industry partners for a practical day focused on the latest developments in potato production.

The Farmers Field Day is already taking shape in the field, with demonstration plots planted and participating partners working alongside the FreshCrop agronomy team to manage the crops throughout the growing season.

The event is expected to bring together WPC delegates from around the world and more than 1,500 Kenyan farmers, creating a meeting point between global potato innovation and practical farming experience. 

Visitors will be able to explore live demonstration plots covering potato varieties and seed, crop nutrition and protection programmes, machinery and technology, precision agriculture and smart farming solutions. 

The programme will also feature practical talks and demonstrations, while providing farmers and delegates with opportunities to meet organisations and experts working to shape the future of potato production.

A dedicated WPC 2026 Farmers Field Day webpage has now been launched to provide regular updates on preparations at FreshCrop in the months leading up to the event.

The page will continue to be updated as the crops develop and preparations progress. Updates will include information on participating partners, demonstration plots, farmer mobilisation, event plans and other developments from the field.

The organisers are encouraging the potato community to follow the page as the countdown continues towards 29 October 2026 and the Farmers Field Day comes to life.

With less than two months remaining before World Potato Congress 2026 opens its doors in Kenya, preparations are accelerating across the wider Congress programme.
