In het zuidwesten van Nederland lijden enkele telers grote schade door rot in aardappelen, peen en knolselderij. In de rest van het land zijn geen problemen van rottende gewassen door de regen.
Het probleem speelt op de Zuid-Hollandse eilanden en het noorden van West-Brabant, zegt adviseur Leen van Marion van DLV Plant. ”Vooral op Voorne-Putten is het aanzienlijk. Het beeld ziet er wisselend uit. Soms rotten de gewassen op enkele vierkante meters, soms gaat het om grote stukken van een perceel. Door de regen staan de gewassen te lang in het water en gaan rotten.”
Inkoopmanager Cees Rozendaal van aardappelverwerker Farm Frites schat dat enkele telers op Voorne-Putten 25 tot 30 procent minder aardappelen oogsten. ”In de rest van het land worden juist goede opbrengsten verwacht.”
