British potato growers can now specify their Amistar delivery in the returnable Syngenta Link-Pak packaging for the 2013 planting season.
The Link-Pak is an exclusive closed transfer system, which eliminates the need to measure and handle product in the field when filling direct-injection applicators. The returnable packaging avoids the need to wash-out, store and dispose of packaging waste after use.
Operators simply click the Amistar Link-Pak into a designated coupling on the application machine, and twist the bottle to release the product. Once the required volume has been added to the reservoir, the bottle can be disconnected;operators can discharge as much or as little as required from the Link-Pak container at any one time. A full 10-litre Link-Pak can be discharged into the applicator in less than 20 seconds.
Syngenta Potato Technical Manager, Stephen Williams, highlighted the system is quick, convenient and avoids risks of spillage when handling or pouring from conventional packaging.  “Where Amistar applicators are mounted high on the side of a potato planter, access to fill the direct injection reservoir can be precarious;the Link-Pak makes operation safe and secure,” he added.
Most Amistar application equipment would have been supplied pre-fitted with a Link-Pak adapter, but if not they are available from Syngenta and can be readily retro-fitted, he advised.
Mr Williams reported that Amistar should be widely available in the 10-litre Link-Pak for potato farmers this season, but growers are advised to secure their requirements early to guarantee supply. Amistar is also available in five-litre Syngenta S-pac packaging.
