The British arm of Canadian frozen food giant McCain Foods Limited has signed a deal with Tour de France organisers ASO.

McCain, the world's largest producer of french fries, will act as an official supplier of the Tour this year.

The 2014 edition of the Tour de France begins in the English county of Yorkshire, home to a number of farmers that supply potatoes to McCain.

“McCain are thrilled to be a part of one of this year’s biggest global sporting events and this partnership is the perfect way for us to celebrate our Yorkshire and farming heritage and engage with local communities and British potato farmers,"said McCain Foods GB marketing director Mark Hodge.
