A Plant to Process Native Potatoes is under construction in Huancavelica, Peru

Peru is advancing its efforts to add value to the potato supply chain with an agro-industrial project focused on native potato varieties. The new processing plant will be located in Huancavelica, in the south-central part of the country.

Construction begins on the Native Potato Processing Plant

During a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony, the Regional Economic Development Management of Huancavelica, together with Procompite, officially launched the construction of the Native Potato Processing Plant for the Unión Pomavilca Association, located in the district and province of Acobamba.

This important project will increase production capacity and add greater value to one of the region's most emblematic crops, thereby promoting local economic development.

Acobamba marks a historic milestone toward the industrialization of native potatoes, strengthening the role of the Unión Pomavilca Association and highlighting the agricultural potential of Huancavelica.

Infrastructure and investment

The plant will feature modern infrastructure covering 570 m², including processing areas, a general warehouse, sanitary facilities, a yard and a perimeter fence. The investment amounts to PEN 267,700 and has a construction period of 54 calendar days. In addition, the project includes electrical and sanitary installations, along with additional equipment aimed at improving the competitiveness of local producers.

Through this initiative, Procompite reaffirms its commitment to the productive development of the region, promoting the transformation of raw materials, job creation and access to new markets for agricultural organizations in Huancavelica.
